The Artist
Recording artist, Fay Baker, blends smooth jazz and gospel influences with a sultry, yet pop infused style that challenges boundaries from the past and embraces a new world view. Her silky voice and soulful phrasing breathe life into the subjects of love, loss and moving forward. Completely original, Fay travels effortlessly through genres and timeless subjects that all artists grapple with.
In her debut EP, A Woman of a Certain Age, Fay seamlessly combines R&B, contemporary gospel, and jazz-pop through four intimate songs that reveal a journey from self-loss to self-love. In the title cut of her Wildflowers EP, Wildflowers, Fay uses her smooth vocals to gently remind us that one of the great equalizers in life is choice. In Wildflowers, Fay tells a story that shows how choice changed the life of the subject of track three, “Solomon’s Bride”. Through her heartfelt and engaging lyrics on “I Was Born to Love You”, “A Little Praise”, and “The Light and the Way”, Fay weaves a story of the “Bride’s” discovery of purpose, surrender to love, and complete devotion to and reverence for the love she has found and accepted. Fay's latest release, Old, a single that's a little bit country and a little bit "soft" rock 'n roll, is an "ahh" moment of looking back at looking forward.
Fay is only beginning. There is much more to come.
